In September of 2012, Lorenzo Antonio Martin Sr. became the first person in his family to be sworn in as an elected official and in the City of Prichard. Martin believes in investing himself into the city as a coach, a volunteer and a community organizer. 

A resident of the City of Prichard from the age of twenty-one, after buying his first home in Prichard. Councilman Martin is committed to realizing his vision of a more family friendly, equitable, progressive, and compassionate city. To that end, he is promoting a vision that puts the City of Prichard first and on a path of change and city growth, to become a city that is increasing in public safety, economic development, homeownership, roads and infrastructure, taking our rightful place as the second largest city in Mobile County. 

Under Martin leadership, the City of Prichard will embrace a 21st Century Policing strategies that targets violence and public safety, Increase Fire protection, transparent water services and community development. In doing so, the City of Prichard will achieve growth and respect of being, the little city with a big story to tell, of increasing the citizens of Prichard quality of life and city government accountability. 

As a lifelong public servant and leader, Martin previously served on the State of Alabama Democratic Executive Committee, League of Municipality Transportation Committee, South Alabama Regional Planning Commission Transportation Planning Division, ALDOT Citizen Clean Up Committee, Prichard City Council Finance, Public Safety and Public Works Committees, National League of Cities Public Safety Committee, Mobile County Sheriff’s Flotilla and served on the advisory board for Dumas Wesley Community Center.   

Martin is a recipient of the State Representative Leadership Award for Governmental Service, City of Prichard Sports and Leadership Award, Prichard Federation of Women’s and Youth Club Award, and served on the advisory board for Dumas Wesley Community Center, President of OOD Youth Mentoring Organization. 

He and his wife Valerie, son Lorenzo Jr, daughter Jamiya, daughter Amber and son Timani, all are Members of Word of Life Community Church.  
Martin earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, from Faulkner University and a Associate of Science in Legal Studies, from Faulkner University. He and his wife Valerie are the proud parents of Lorenzo Jr., Jamiya, Amber and Timani, four beautiful children.
